I should have been suspicious in how they promoted HP Smart and relegated the traditionally way as only for professionals.įor a while after I uninstalled and deleted HP Smart I kept getting reminders to download it.

Half way through I deleted the program and went back to doing it the old way. I became frustrated in how dumb down the process had become. Some time last year in a moment of weakness I downloaded and installed HP Smart. I had been content to just do it the old fashion way of manually installing the drivers for my printer.

I had been reluctant to download and install HP Smart ever since it came out. Then after that go to start -> add printer and then depending on if its a network printer or hardwired, pick either one.

And ( surprise!) the last time I checked Services the Disabled HP Service had disappeared.I am glad you got this sorted out. Download it, then extract it or run the program and it should extract a file under c:/hpprinterdrivers or something to that extent (It will tell you where it extracts, so pay attention). I found the HP service in Services and disabled it again a few days ago, and the HP Smart annoyance hasn't come back since.
